XCarb® is an innovative initiative by ArcelorMittal developed to reduce the steel production carbon footprint. The XCarb® series steel is a result of more sustainable production processes that reduce CO₂ emissions through the application of modern technologies, such as recycling, energy consumption reduction, and the use of renewable energy sources. XCarb® offers steel with a sustainable profile, ideal for companies striving to minimize their carbon footprint. Despite the reduction in CO₂ emissions, the steel retains its excellent mechanical properties and durability, comparable to traditional steel products.
Hot-rolled sheets are manufactured using the rolling process at temperatures above the recrystallization temperature of steel. Hot-rolled sheets are characterized by good strength and plasticity as well as good weldability properties. They are suitable for structural applications in the machinery, energy, and automotive industries, provide high durabilty and easy machining.
Cold-rolled sheets are manufactured using the cold rolling process, which results in material with high dimensional accuracy and a smooth surface. The process takes place below the steel’s recrystallization temperature. Cold-rolled sheets have higher strength properties and an improved yield point. They provide greater hardness and tensile strength compared to hot-rolled sheets and have a much smoother surface. These characteristics make cold-rolled sheets ideal for precision applications, such as the production of automotive parts, household appliances, and are used in electrotechnical industry.
Hot-dip galvanized sheets are cold-formed, cleaned, and coated with a layer of molten zinc in an immersion process. Hot-dip galvanized sheets are characterized by excellent corrosion resistance, making them ideal for external applications and environments with high humidity. They provide high resistance to scratching and various atmospheric factors. They are widely used in construction, automotive, and machinery industries.
Electrolytically galvanized sheets are coated with a layer of zinc in an electrochemical process. This process ensures the uniform application of a thin zinc layer on one or both sides of the steel. Electrolytically galvanized sheets have a smooth and even surface, making them an excellent choice for applications requiring aesthetic finishing and precise machining. This coating provides excellent adhesion for paint or film. Electrolytically galvanized sheets are used in the automotive industry, home appliances, and in the production of elements requiring painting or coating.
